Certain commercial establishments already offer autism friendly hours, allowing patrons to shop or visit the cinema under reduced lighting, noise and crowds. A hotel in the Maritimes recently created an autism-friendly room, and airports are rolling out sensitization or fast-track programs to better welcome and accommodate autistic people.
Completely Inclusive would like to create a directory of local businesses that have undergone a training program to learn how to better accommodate autistic people. Once they have completed the training, they could be added to the directory and display a sticker/program logo to demonstrate they are open of serving autistic people in a way that is more comfortable for them. The commerce would pay an annual fee to maintain their membership to the program and all employees would undergo training to ensure they have the skills they need to best serve patrons.
We hope to roll out this program in the near future.
